Samsung PN58C7000 3D Plasma Review

With both high def and standard definition programming the PN58C7000 displays an exceptionally balanced and realistic picture. Colors are not over saturated but still have plenty of pop. Black levels are excellent and dark shadow detail is very good. Viewing angles are perfect. It’s simply got a great picture, and excellent Internet options. The TC-P54G25 is Panasonic’s next to highest end offering for 2010. The only features lacking in this model from the highest end VT25 series is 3D capability. I does contain the new Skype enabled feature, and has THX certifications for picture calibrations and settings. Samsung PN50C550 Plasma Review

Samsung is remaining consistent with it’s plasma offerings and bringing back the 550 offering which was a big seller last year. We liked it last year and were looking forward to reviewing it again. LG 50PK550 Plasma Review

The 50PK550 is a middle tier 2010 plasma TV offering from LG that includes some nice features and calibration options while leaving off Internet connectivity, 3D compatibility and the best video processing. With HD content, the PK550 yielded a much better picture and depth continued to improve. Color rendition was also much richer with the 1080i signal. Read more…

The TC-P50S2 series plasma contains the new an updated version of the NEO PDP (i.e. plasma screen) from Panasonic. This is the same screen used in some of the higher end Panasonic series which should make this model a good value if picture quality is your primary objective. First we start off with an aesthetically stunning TV model in the C6500. At 1.4″ depth and subtle Touch of Color looks this model looks high end through and through. The 50PJ350 is the lowest price and feature set offering from LG’s plasma lineup for 2010. This plasma offering has a unique place in today’s TV world with a resolution of 1366 X 768 or 720p or 1080i. We dont have anything against 720p since much broadcast HD TV programming likely comes through in this resolution – as long as the 720p picture quality is excellent. Read more…

Certainly Samsung has come a long way in plasma panels. I remember a time past when they were, um, well, irregular in many ways. Color coordinates were off, they were often clunky, heavy and deep not to mention unattractive. All of that has changed now. Panasonic Viera TC-P50G10 Plasma Review

This Panasonic offers an unusually bright picture for a plasma television. Black levels are somewhat compromised with normal television signals and contrast is competitive though not great for a plasma TV. Aesthetics are a highlight. I really like the thin gloss frame with bevel rounded edges. The framing bezel is just a touch over 1.5″ – Great! The graduated silver bar in the bottom of the frame adds a nice 3-dimensional touch. The picture presentation of the 54S1 is exceptionally bright for a plasma TV. Black levels are deep and strong with an HD signal input through HDMI. While not the best we’ve seen lately, they lose the dark gray haziness that the S1 displays with a 480i signal. Color is plenty saturated and dark shadow detail remains excellent. Read more…

Panasonic Viera TC-P50X1 Plasma Review

When we wrote our initial comments regarding the 50X1 plasma from Panasonic in March when the units were introduced we were under the false assumption that this Panasonic model, though 720p rather than 1080p would preserve the excellent black levels for which Panasonic is known. We were wrong. The black levels are not sufficient to garner a good picture quality rating. We were right about the price coming in low. It can be found for a stunningly low price. Read more…

Samsung PN58A650 Plasma TV Review

Samsung is continuing with a second generation foray into the 58″ plasma arena to do battle with Panasonic. This new PN650 series from Samsung is hot looking (and also creates a lot of heat while operating). It’s got some very nice feature upgrades over the 550 series by Samsung while not stepping on the price too much – making it a very attractive quality/value play in this size of plasma. The features on the PN58A650 are fairly robust with increased contrast, advanced picture settings, scrolling wheel user interface adjustments, and Samsung’s new Touch of Color aesthetics. Read more…

Panasonic TH-50PZ85U vs. Samsung PN50A650 Plasma TV Review

Panasonic and Samsung have a strong battle going for the top spot in 1st Tier plasma sales and both have alluring new products arriving summer of 2008. The Samsung plasma model tested represents the companies 2nd tier plasma product, while the TH50PZ85U Panasonic plasma is that company’s 3rd tier plasma TV product. LG 42PG25 Review

This is a second tier model in LGs 2008/2009 lineup for plasma TVs. So the TV has some budget conscious constraints as our review below will point out. All 2008 LG plasma TVs claim a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and this series plasma has a native contrast of 20,000:1. The plasma has the new Fluid Motion technology which LG claims gives the effect of a 180hz refresh rate. It also contains some of the other common enhancements found in all of LG’s new plasma lineup such as Clear Voice technology which enhances and amplifies the human voice element in programming with lots of background noise or music.
